How to measure for a bracelet
Updated October 7, 2026

To find your bracelet size, wrap a strip of paper snugly around your wrist at the wrist bone, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length. Add 0.5 in (1.3 cm) for a comfortable fit, and round to the nearest quarter inch. That number is your bracelet size, the inside circumference of the bracelet. We make bracelets from 5.5 to 8.5 in (14 to 21.6 cm). If you are ordering a bracelet 10 mm wide or more, add about another 0.25 in, because wider bracelets sit higher on the arm.
What you need
A strip of paper about 1 cm wide (or a soft tape measure), a pen and a ruler. Paper is better than string because it does not stretch.
How to measure
- Wrap the paper around your wrist at the wrist bone, where a bracelet would sit. It should be snug but not tight.
- Mark the point where the end overlaps.
- Lay the paper flat and measure from the end to the mark, in inches or centimetres.
- Add 0.5 in (1.3 cm). For a 10 or 12 mm bracelet, add about another 0.25 in (0.6 cm).
- Round to the nearest size in the table below.
Measure the wrist you plan to wear it on. If you like a bracelet to sit close, add a little less; if you like it to move, add a little more.

Width changes the fit
Our Heirloom Scroll Bracelet comes in 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm widths. A wider bracelet covers more of the forearm, and the forearm gets wider as it moves away from the wrist, so a wide bracelet feels tighter than a narrow one of the same size. For 10 mm and above, many people add 0.25 in.
The inside edge is rounded, which helps a bracelet sit comfortably against the wrist bone.
Measuring an existing bracelet
If you already have a bangle that fits well, measure around its inside edge with a strip of paper, or measure the inside diameter straight across and multiply by 3.14. That gives you the inside circumference, which is the size you order. This is also the best way to size a gift.
Before you order
- Measure twice, at different times of day. Wrists swell a little in heat and late in the day.
- Check the size in your proof. We show it in inches and centimetres, and you can change it there before we start.
- Know the limits. A finished bangle can be adjusted by about 0.25 in, so a careful measurement matters more for a bracelet than for most rings. Our returns, exchanges & repairs policy explains the free resize.
If you are between sizes or unsure, book a 15-minute sizing call and we will measure with you. The full size guide covers rings too.
Questions
How much should I add to my wrist measurement?
Add 0.5 in (1.3 cm) to a snug wrist measurement for a comfortable fit. For bracelets 10 mm or wider, many people add another 0.25 in (about 0.6 cm).
What does your bracelet size mean?
It is the inside circumference of the bracelet, measured around the inside edge. A size 7 bracelet measures 7 in (17.8 cm) around the inside.
Can a bracelet be resized?
Our bangles can be adjusted by about 0.25 in, so please measure carefully. We confirm your size in the proof before we start.
What size bracelet should I order as a gift?
If you can, borrow a bracelet they already wear and measure around its inside edge. If that is not possible, ask someone close to them, because a bangle can only be adjusted by about 0.25 in after it is made.
